STEEL PLATE MATCHES

Steel plate matches will be held at the club on the 4th Friday of each month, Feb 27, March 27, April 23, May 22

March 27 we will run 2 stages, 1st stage is a 5 plate rack, multiple runs (number of runs based on attendance). Stage 2 will be 18 to 22 plates, mixed racks and poppers, also multiple runs. That 2nd stage will eat up some ammo, so be prepared. 22 targets times 4 runs is 88 if you don't miss (haha) and 5 times runs on the first stage is 25 rounds. Good shooters may want a minimum of 150 rounds, 200 plus for the rest of us is more like it!

Feb 27 We held a pin shoot, about 25 shooters participated. We held a .22 cal 2X4 shoot at the end, that was (literally) a blast. 2 five person teams shot about 600 rounds in a little over a minute!

Jan 30 A beginners event was held as scheduled in Jan and we had a great turnout, more than 20 shooters participated. All seemed to have a good time and more events will be planned soon. Most shooters got 6 runs at each of three stages. Stage one was 6 eight inch steel plates in a rack shot from 25 feet. 2nd stage was 5 bowling pin plates, three low and 2 high shot from 25 feet. The 3rd stage was 5 large and one small popper from 30 feet, the shooter then moving to a second shooting position and engaging 6 more small poppers from 25 feet. Some pretty good times were recorded for a beginners nite!

Any handgun, revolver or auto (9mm/.38 spec or larger) can be used

NO Magnum loads allowed

NO shot, frangible or multi projectile loads allowed

You'll need at least 150 rounds of ammo, bringing up to 250 might be a good idea, we'll try to get each shooter multiple runs.

You'll need at least 3 magazines or speedloaders (revolver) more is better

Eye and ear protection are MANDATORY

Full length pants (NO shorts) and full shoes (no open toe shoes) are required, bullets can spatter and bounce back at times.

All shooting will be from low ready, no drawing from a holster.

Holsters may be used to transport an EMPTY gun to and from the firing line, all other guns must be empty and cased

The club will be COLD, meaning NO loaded guns except at the firing line. If you enter the club with a loaded gun, go to a port, unload with the gun aimed downrange and case the gun. You may re-load your carry gun at the line when you are leaving the club.

We're going to try and run 2 stages with each shooter getting at least 5 runs through the first stage and as many as time allows thru the 2nd stage. All stages will be run against the timer, scoring by the Lewis System.

We want this to a fun evening for all shooters but SAFETY will be paramount!
