Membership Committee

The membership process has changed. Please read the following to ensure a positive experience.

Applicants must come in person to MVGC on the 3rd Wednesdays of the month at 7:00.

The membership committee will go over your application to ensure accuracy and take your check or money order for the initiation fee and 1st years dues.

NRA membership will be verified at this time. Please bring your membership card or proof of NRA membership with you. If you are not an NRA member, applications are available at the club. We are a membership recruiter for the NRA and can accept your payment for NRA membership with your initiation fee and dues check.

The applicant will return to the club on the Thursday evening of the following week (8 days after application) at 7pm. The applicant will learn if their membership application was accepted at this time. If accepted the applicant will stay for range testing and a safety orientation. This should take about 30 to 45 minutes depending on the number of applicants. Successful applicants will be issued a key card at this time.

Please read and follow the following to make the process as smooth as possible:

1. Membership Application MUST be filled out COMPLETELY.

2. Minimum age: 18 years. You may be asked to show your birth certificate or ACTIVE Massachusetts

    driver’s license.

3. If you are not a US Citizen, you must show an ACTIVE Alien Registration Card  and ACCEPTABLE

    Probation Record. See item 4 for address to obtain Probation Record.

4. ACTIVE Massachusetts Pistol Permit is REQUIRED. If you do not have an active Massachusetts pistol

    permit, we will accept an unopened, acceptable probation record. You may telephone (617) 660-4600 for

    instructions for obtaining a copy of your probation record from the criminal history systems board.

5. Proof of active membership in the National Rifle Association is required. Please show your NRA membership

    card  or the label from a current issue of your American Rifleman magazine. If you are not already a

    member of the NRA, add $35.00 to your club initiation and dues fees and we will process your initial enrollment

    in the NRA. Please note that subsequent NRA renewal is the responsibility of each individual and is a

    prerequisite to MVGC membership renewal yearly.

6. Applications must be sponsored by a member in good standing of the Mystic Valley Gun Club. If you don't know a member come to the club on a Wednesday evening after 7 pm and introduce yourself as a prospective member. needing a sponsor.  We'll be happy to show you around and chance are good you'll meet a member that will sponsor you.

7. New members pay $300.00 (plus $35.00 for joining the NRA at the same time).

    $200.00 initiation fee

    $100.00 one year’s club membership dues

    $300.00 Total (If already a member of the NRA)

    * Add $35.00 if joining the NRA at time of joining Mystic Valley Gun Club..............Total $335.00

8. If you are 65 years of age or older (must show proof), the initiation fee will be waived at acceptance.

9. After joining, members over 65 years of age who have been a member of good standing for 20 consecutive

    years will receive FREE DUES status for life.

10. A discount of $30.00 off the initiation fee is allowed for members who have  successfully completed the MVGC pistol school.

11. New members who join after October 1 are considered PAID IN FULL for the remainder of the year in

    which they joined and for the following year as well.

12. Club Membership year is January 1, to December 31.

13. Renewal Dues ($100.00) must be paid before Oct 31. To renew in November add a $15.00 late fee. To renew

    in December, add a $30.00 late fee. After Dec 31, membership will   be terminated and readmission will only be considered via a new

    application for membership, including initiation fee. WE DO NOT ACCEPT CASH PAYMENTS.
