INTRODUCTION TO PRACTICAL SHOOTING

       At MVGC on Sat. Oct 30th 9am to 5pm     



Students will learn about Practical and Defensive shooting. Classroom and range time will be used to cover drawing a loaded firearm, shooting from cover and reloading under stress.

Students will also practice moving while engaging targets, multiple targets and moving targets. Students will also shoot several IDPA type classifier stages.

This is an all day course, 9am to 5 pm or later if time and interest dictate it.


IPSC, IDPA, PPC and Steel Challenge shooting will all be covered with the most emphasis on defensive IDPA type shooting..

Students will need:

Eye and ear protection

A practical handgun. Autos and revolvers are OK. Autos 5 inch or less, revolvers 4 inch or less. We encourage shooters to use their carry gun. .22’s are allowed for this class but we recommend a 9mm or .38 or larger firearm. No race guns.

A holster for their firearm. Holster MUST cover the trigger guard. NO inside the waistband holsters for this class. NO cross-draw, shoulder or ankle holsters, no competition type holsters.

3 Magazines or speedloaders for their firearm and a belt mounted holder for the same. (Mags and speedloaders can be carried in pockets if absolutely necessary )

Minimum 200 rounds of safe ammo for their firearm. Ball, jacketed, lead, frangible are all OK.

NRA certified Instructors and Range Officers will be present to keep all shooting safe and offer more instruction time for students.

Course cost is $25.00 including materials and lunch (this is club's cost)
